Formerly a music producer and live/studio engineer, I now concentrate on progressive activism and writing a political column. My diverse background also includes co-founding a national non-profit health concern, United Federation of Orphan Disease Organizations, which sponsored medical conferences, treatment protocols, and testified for increased funding for the study of OD by the National Institutes of Health. Currently, am a member of the Principle's Project Communications Steering Committee, and a boardmember of the Tucson Area Literacy Coalition, a group which advocates for literacy services in Southwestern Arizona.

Skills and Interests

Skills:
Have been a lifelong democrat. My main focus in activism has been in spreading the word, using public relations methods to recruit people to a cause and then put them to work!
Projects:
Currently, on the PR and Local Organizations committees for the Principle's Project; an organizer in the effort to defeat the Bush FY2006 Budget (specifically the cuts to family and adult literacy programs); and a columnist for a Canadian website ("SakinRants"- www.mytown.ca/sakin), which is syndicated to many other online and print oriented media groups. Also do freelance writing.
Interests:
Have pretty much joined the areas I'm interested in. Would like to help organize a network of regional coordinators for PP that would work with local activists in getting people excited about and involved with PP.
Vision:

Looking forward to cleaning up the mess the conservatives will leave behind after they're out of office. It seems to be the destiny of progressives.
